Reviews and Testimonials for RIPS Racing

Well well well, he's done everything he said he would and more... tons more
What can I say ?? I trusted a man at the other side of the world with my money and car and he's not let me down once, I can't think of things good enough to say about Rob and his company. THE BEST !!!I feel like I've gained a good mate now, not just a tuner who's interested in how much they can get out of you!!! See you in the new year Rob I'm coming over to buy you a pint.

Gets my vote every single time and I am an exceptionally happy customer
I would just like to say that out of all the tuners I have ever ever done business with I would use Rob at RIPS any day of the week even if he is thousands of miles away.Customer service is second to none and the personal touch and extra lengths they will go to have a happy customer and have things just right puts a lot of other companies to shame.

I cannot recommend RIPS highly enough!
Having owned my 1989 Nissan 200SX S13 since 1999, and developing the CA18DET power from 165 to 314 BHP, I found the engines were close to their limit for reliable big power (I went through four engine blocks in the process). Also torque and drivability became a problem.

I made the decision in the summer of 2005 to go for big CC's to cure these issues. I contemplated the SR20 (very briefly), the RB25 and the Godzilla RB26 twin turbo from the Skyline GTR. During my research RIPS in New Zealand was recommended to me so I got in touch with Rob Ward, initially by phone.

We spoke at length and it became obvious that he really knew what he was talking about. Rob guided me through the decision making process ensuring he understood exactly what I wanted to achieve. I wanted maximum torque with maximum power and complete drivability and reliability. A huge request! His knowledge and guidance was essential here, and I could not have achieved the finished article to this standard without his help.

I eventually made the decision with a lot of help and guidance from Rob to go for the RB30 block from an Australian Holden Commodore mated to an RB26 twin turbo head in order to make the ultimate engine for the light coupe body.

Over the course of the next months, RIPS sourced all the parts for the engine and built it up to a terrific standard, acid dipping all the parts, crackle painting the block and producing many unique parts to make it all work. I have to say all the workmanship of everything they sent is of the very best quality, and I have no doubt that this project will prove to be strong, reliable and long-living.

What has most impressed me however is the after-sale-care that Rob has afforded me. It is easy to sell a product and take the money but Rob does things differently. We must have passed dozens of emails, "talked" on MSN for hours and spoken on the phone for ages. I never felt that I was an unwelcome waste of his time. He was always there to assist. Whenever I came across problems with the project he was always willing and able to offer help and technical advice of the highest quality.

After a short running-in period, we initially got the car on the rollers at Surrey Rolling Road and produced 372 BHP and 350 lb of torque at a very gentle 0.8 bar of boost and a 5800 rpm rev limit. Considering Rob built this engine to take 1.5 bar and 7200 rpm it is obvious that my target of an enormously torquey 500-600 BHP is certainly achievable. I am currently using 1.2 bar and 6400 rpm and every time I drive it it gets better and better. I regularly break out in howls of laughter as I drive, it's that good! Once I learn to harness this astonishing power I am sure there will be almost nothing on the road to compare to.

I have to express my great thanks to Rob for his engineering quality and being so approachable and helpful throughout the entire build process. I cannot recommend RIPS highly enough.

THANKS ROB!

Just wanted to say what a fantastic customer experience it has been
The plenum and sump both came from RIPS in NZ, the quality of the work is stunning - I spent an half an hour today discussing with a colleague which is our favourite weld on the plenum. At each stage of the process Rob kept me up to date with progress and then shipped with a faster service than we agreed on at no extra cost to me!

I still get guys asking about the build and have put them all onto Robbie
Massive thumbs up for the engine build on the Skyline… car has done over 55,000 km and the RB30 engine is bullet proof! Still hard to believe we won the Nightwars and Nationals, 10.21 sec for the quarter mile on that small budget was unbelievable.

I still get guys asking about the build and have put them all onto you, and I'm glad business is booming. Good luck in your new workshop, you'll be needing that extension to the premises in no time.

Keep up the good work, and good luck on your new project!
Albert
The effort that Rob and the team put in to every motor is fantastic with faultless fabrication rivalling anything I have seen!
I have taken possession of my R.I.P.S RB30DET well over 6 months ago and the package has been extremely reliable on every start with no issues with cold starts and the like.

Having had experience with other RB series engines I can say that the RB30 is a new world in terms of power and torque, a true daily driver with a custom edge.

The effort that Rob and the team put in to every motor is fantastic with faultless fabrication rivalling anything I have seen.

Not only is the build quality top class, but the after sale service is great and Rob is willing to provide tips with no hassles. For anyone looking to get into more than street use, R.I.P.S has proven results and experience that money alone can’t buy.
